Why Props Should be Important to YOU in your Senior Pictures. Think about it.

So today Andy and I had a chance to work together on his photo shoot. Easy going, funny, and totally relaxed about having his pictures taken — my perfect client! ::grin::

But. Andy did not have any props he wanted to take photographs with.

Here’s the thing. Props are somewhat semi-important for your senior pictures. Why? Several reasons:

They give you something to “do” in the photograph. Rather than just staring at the camera — props make the pictures more believable and real — more about YOU and what’s important to you right NOW.

They help tell a story. This is an important part of your life, your senior year — by gathering things around you that mean something, you’re helping me tell others who you are. It may not seem like a big deal now — but trust me — later you’ll really love it.

They give me something to be inspired by. I love having little pieces of things that are important to you to photograph. I can experiment and try different things — instead of the same old thing in posing and smiling. KWIM?

So. Back to Andy. I noticed his guitar hero guitar in the corner of the room and suggested this might be something…and Andy…Andy turned into a wildly enthusiastic man on a mission to use the guitar in cool images!

And seriously, wait until you see them. They are SUPER cool — some of my most favorite of favorites EVER.

I love props. Have I mentioned that yet?

Andy — here’s your sneak peek for today! Thanks for being such a good sport about all the things I wanted you to try!
